Upcoming Property: Hana-Maui Resort Joining Hyatt September 1st
The Travaasa Hana Resort will be joining Hyatt on September 1st. The resort will be renamed the Hana-Maui Resort and will join Hyatt’s Destination Hotels collection.
According to KITV in Hawaii, Hyatt will be taking over the management contract of Maui’s Travaasa Hana Resort. The property has been closed since March, given the COVID-19 related travel restrictions. The resort is not expected to reopen until Hawaii’s COVID-19 related travel restrictions are lifted.
The property looks like a great addition to Hyatt and World of Hyatt. Plus it is one of the few resort options in the Hana area. Despite that the resort sits next to the water, the resort doesn’t have an on-site beach, which could be a deal breaker for some (although they have a nearby beach which guests have access to).
One thing that will be interesting to see is how Hyatt will handle rates at the Hana-Maui Resort. Currently the resort has either standard rates or all inclusive rates. The all-inclusive rates include three meals per day, plus a $175 per person per day credit. Ventana Big Sur just moved to an all-inclusive model, so it’ll be interesting to see if Hyatt keeps the all-inclusive option, or just goes to nothing but all-inclusive, at the Hana-Maui Resort.
One last note. But we can’t help but wonder what Hyatt is planning on doing with this resort in the years to come. Hyatt took over the management of the Travaasa Austin Resort, which was converted after an extensive remodel to the Miraval Austin. And since the Hana-Maui has a similar layout with separate buildings, focuses on wellness and a sense of place, and already has an all-inclusive wonder, we have to think that a Miraval Maui or Miraval Hana could be in the cards. Just our two cents…
